iMovie HD 6.0.1: Problems using iLife Sound Effects
Several users have noticed that they do not have access to the new sound effects that came with iLife '06 in iMovie HD 6.0.1.
One reader writes:
"I tried to register the path to /Library/Audio/Apple/iLife Sound Effects in the iMovie Media Browser the same way I did with iDVD 06 or iWeb or GarageBand 3.0. But if I drag the iLife Sound Effects folder in the Media browser of iMovie 6, it is displayed as iMovie HD Sound effects containing 13 lines with this same name iMovie HD sound effects (instead of Ambience, Animals, ...)
"If I quit and relaunch iMovie, these sounds effects are gone from the media browser and I have to re-drag iLifeSound Effects on the media browser to use them."
One potential solution for this issue is to duplicate the contents of the Sound Effects folder (/Library/Audio/Apple/iLife Sound Effects) to /Library/Application Support/iMovie/Sound Effects.
