iMovie '08 (7.0.x) Special Report: Performance problems on G5 Macs
Some users have reported poor performance from iMovie '08 on PowerPC G5-based Macs.
MacFixIt reader James Tarpley writes:
"I was greatly dismayed to find that iMovie '08 is virtually useless on a quad core G5: scrolling through the clippings library grinds to a halt, producing the dreaded spinning pin wheel for minutes at a time. My system has 4 GBs of RAM and 400 GBs of free disc space. Where the issue with iMovie '08 is one of bugs and lack of true compatibility with the G5, I'm unsure."
Note that Apple's relatively steep system requirements recommend a Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0GHz or faster), or an iMac G5 (1.9GHz or faster).
