Pictures of what is purported to be the next-generation Treo from PalmOne have hit the Web. The phone has roughly the same design as the current Treo 600, but it's the new features that are catching the attention of handheld fanatics. Slides seemingly from a PowerPoint presentation point to high-end specifications as well as to an introduction in October or November 2004.
In the digital images, the phone looks to have a new keyboard and a high-resolution display. (The detail of the pictures is very good, kudos to the budding photographer. You should give some tips to the person that took the photos of what may be the new iMac.) The camera in the handset got an upgrade, to 1.3 megapixels and a digital zoom. So did the processor, to 312MHz, according to postings. The new device also incorporates Bluetooth; handheld guru Jeff Hawkins has said he would be cautious about using the wireless technology in a phone until a useful application was developed. The camera is also capable of recording video.
