iMac SuperDrive Toast Failure Workaround

Yesterday we noted a problem where Roxio's Toast 5.2 failed to burn CDs on SuperDrive-equipped Flat Panel iMacs that were updated with the recently released firmware revision. While users can revert to Toast 5.1.3 to resolve the problem, Christian Verschraegen offers an alternative potential workaround that requires the creation of a disc image:

"Instead of simply hitting ‘Record’, go first to the File menu and select 'Save disc image'. Once the disk image is made, go the Utilities menu and select 'Mount disk image.' Once the image is mounted, hit 'Record,' and the disc is burned properly."

The Flat Panel iMac SuperDrive Firmware update has also reportedly caused problems playing audio CDs in iTunes.
