iMac Core Duo (Early 2006) Special Report: Problems with iSub -- potential cause and fix

Several readers have reported that the iSub external Apple subwoofer does not function properly with the iMac Core Duo.

In some cases, it appears that this issue is the result of corrupt or otherwise problematic files being transferred during a System Migration process.

The solution in this case is to create a new user (from the "Accounts" pane in System Preferences).

Once in the new user account, go to the ~/Library folder and drag the "Audio" and "Preferences" folders to the Desktop, restart, and check for persistence of the issue.
