Facebook is promoting itself with new applications such as Slide's that allow you to "tickle, drunk dial, or throw a sheep at your Facebook friends " (as reported in the print edition of Fast Company). That may be amusing for a college student who is looking for something to do at 1 am, but if Facebook really wants to stake a claim to part of my mental real estate, they're going to have to come up with real-world benefits that are a little more practical.
