iLife and Keynote for $14.95 Apple is offering a steep discount on a bundle of Keynote of iLife for education customers. The limited-time offer represents a savings of 88 percent, or $113 off the regular education price. The offer is good from January 29 through March 31, 2003. More.

EarthLink to cut 25 percent of jobs CNET reports that internet service provider EarthLink plans to lay off a quarter of its work force. "The United States' third-largest ISP plans to make the 1,300 job cuts in 'technical support and customer service,' the company said in a statement posted on its Web site. It currently employs about 5,100 people." EarthLink has long been recognized for its stellar customer support - particularly for Mac users. More.

$150 for a plasma TV? Guess again An MSNBC article takes a look into straight-line matrix schemes that scam users with offers of $100 plasma televisions and other ridiculous offers. "A new Internet-era quick-money scheme has caught fire. Dozens of Web sites have popped up promising high-ticket electronic gadgets for pennies on the dollar. One promises a free laptop computer to anyone willing to pony up $50 for an electronic book. At another site, purchase of a $500 CD-ROM buys a chance to win $4,650 or a free plasma television. But there's a catch: There may be only one winner for every 50 buyers. The sites claim they're legitimate, but legal experts warn otherwise." More.
