If Game of Thrones was in feudal Japan

An artist by the name of Seiji has taken iconic moments from Game of Thrones and re-imagined them as Ukiyo-e.

Taking a page from the book of Ukiyo-e Heroes — Jed Henry's series of traditionally crafted woodblock prints of video-game characters in the style of Ukiyo-e, artist Seiji has given us a glimpse of what Game of Thrones might look like in feudal Japan.

He has reimagined eight stand-out scenes and characters from the series and placed them in context of Japanese traditions and mythology. Hodor, for example, is drawn with Oni-like features to indicate that he may not be all human, and the heart tree is hung with a Shinto prayer-rope. The wildlings are dressed in the style of the Ainu, the indigenous people of northern Japan, and the Dothraki sea is drawn as the Mongolian steppes.

Unlike Ukiyo-e Heroes, Seiji's work is digital, but it's clever, detail-focused and well-drawn. There are some spoilers in the set (which can be viewed in its entirety here on Imgur), so be warned, if you've not seen the series or read the books, you may ruin some key moments for yourself.
