iCal: Empty alarm clock appears

CNET staff

Some readers have recently reported an issue where iCal displays an empty alarm message each time it is launched.

One reader writes:

"I'm having an issue (annoyance, really), where each time I restart iCal, an alarm window comes up that's empty aside from the alarm clock. I trolled around through the archives and see issues about disappearing calendars, but not this issue exactly."

There are a couple potential fixes for this issue.

First, try going into each To Do item, and check the "Due Date" off then on. Quit iCal, re-launch and check for persistence of the issue.

Next, try copying all of your To Do items to a text document (in TextEditor, or another application) for backup purposes -- or sync with a .Mac server --, then delete all of your To Do items within iCal.
