iCal 1.5.4: iSync issues; iCal event problems

iSync issues On Wednesday we covered a report from Trevor Harley that since installing iCal 1.5.4 he has been unable to use iSync, instead seeing the error "Assertion Failed!" Trevor has since worked around this error by doing a "fresh install" of iSync:

"I discovered the only way to solve the Assertion Failed! error is to delete all mention of iSync from the drive and do a completely fresh install. It's something to do with the iSync database being corrupted. All was well before iCal 1.5.4. The full instructions for the fresh install are on the Apple iSync discussion pages."

A number of other readers have also reported problems using iSync since installing the iCal update. In some cases, iSync crashes immediately upon launch, whereas for other users, they get iSync errors stating that the connection to the device (phone, Palm, etc.) has been lost.

iCal issues Tim Gardner reports iCal event issues since installing v1.5.4:

"Ever since updating to iCal 1.5.4 I can no longer add 'Events' to my calendars although I can edit exhisting ones. Of course this has now synced to other computers and all of my calendars are now useless."
