iBook (Dual USB) hard drive replacement

Evidently upgrading an iBook hard drive may be a more difficult procedure than previous PowerBooks demanded. Tom McGee writes:

"Anyone who buys a new iBook and has plans to pop a bigger drive may wish to reconsider. I've been servicing electronic equipment for 30 years and installing another iBook hard drive is at the very bottom of my list of fun things to do. If you're a good technician and have never done one before, the process takes nearly three hours if you only want to mark up the machine a little bit. My advice for alternative storage is one of those 2.5 inch Firewire drives that are the size of a Palm or PocketPC device. No power cords are needed -- just the Firewire cable."
