Next week, IBM will pick up an Emmy Award for its on-demand digital broadcasting technology. At the 57th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmys, the ceremony the public never sees, IBM will share honors with Warner Bros. for technical achievement with their unique "station in a box," which lets the WB Network broadcast to local markets where there is no broadcast signal.

The digital broadcasting system, operated in a central location at Warner Bros. in L.A., let the network combine its entire broadcast process, from advertising sales, digital encoding and content storage, to digital data transmission and local ad insertion. The Emmy will be presented on Sept. 29 at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Princeton, N.J.
