Huawei launches 'world's slimmest' smartphone at CES
Chinese OEM Huawei is claiming that its Ascend P1 S smartphone is the "world's slimmest", slinking past Motorola's super-slim Razr, with a chassis of 6.68mm at its slimmest point.
Chinese OEM Huawei is claiming that its Ascend P1 S smartphone is the "world's slimmest", slinking past Motorola's super-slim Razr, with a chassis of 6.68mm at its slimmest point.
Huawei isn't content with this impressive feat of design and engineering, however. Size aside, the Ascend P1 S has plenty of other factors in its favour. The handset will be powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 chipset, and will run on Google's Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android. From the images provided by Huawei so far, it looks like the OEM will forgo any custom user interface, and will opt for the pure Google experience, instead.
Like the Razr, the Huawei handset will also feature a bright 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a qHD (960x540 pixel) resolution, covered in Corning Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, there is the usual array of networking components, with wireless N-compatible Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 3G. An 1800mAh battery completes the package.
Huawei has announced its intention to launch Ascend P1 S around the world from April, with an Australian launch date to be announced after agreements with local carriers are finalised.
