HTC M8 home screen leaks, shows new version of BlinkFeed
An image of what could well be the HTC M8's home screen has leaked, showing a new version of HTC's BlinkFeed.
We're just a couple of weeks away from Mobile World Congress, and the mobile leaks are coming thick and fast. Here's what's purported to be the home screen of HTC's M8, i.e. the follow-up to the HTC One.
Renowned leaker @evleaks is the man behind this one. It shows what could be the next version of HTC's BlinkFeed, which brings updates to your home screen from a range of sources, including social networks, websites, and other feeds. In this case, they consist of something from UEFA.com, and some pictures of people larking about in a forest.
BlinkFeed has a new look in this shot, with more primary colours and a flatter appearance generally. There are very few lines getting in the way, giving it lots of room to display that all-important information.
Down the bottom of the screen, you can see on-screen buttons which were mentioned in previous rumours. This hints HTC could be about to ditch the capacitive buttons found on its previous phones.
An HTC spokesperson told me the company doesn't comment on rumour or speculation.
Earlier this week, pictures leaked that appeared to show the HTC M8 with not one but two cameras on the back. It's thought this will allow you to change the focus of a photo after you've taken it.
The M8 could launch at Mobile World Congress, but @evleaks reckons we won't see it announced until late March. Other rumours include that it'll have a 5-inch, 1080p screen -- that would be marginally bigger than the current HTC One's.
There's also talk of a mini version launching alongside the M8. Whether this would be a stripped-down version like the HTC One Mini, or a proper pocket rocket, with nigh-on the same specs just in a smaller package, like the ace Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, we'll have to wait and see.
