Feast your eyes, lovers of fast internet. Telstra has announced that its first 4G smartphone will be a mysterious HTC monster known only as the HTC 4G, but we know better. Yesterday at the telco's 4G launch event, we snapped a pic of the phone's own ID, outing it as the HTC Holiday.

Telstra is also playing coy when it comes to the release date for the Holiday, stating only that it will be released along with a 4G-capable tablet in the first half of 2012. There were no specific details released around the networking capabilities of the Holiday on the Telstra network, but, as you can see in the image below, we saw it comfortably push 20Mbps download speeds on a cell with seven other video-on-demand streams running concurrently.

The Holiday is actually a production title given by HTC, and is likely to change before the phone is released. In the US, the Holiday will be released on the AT&T network as the HTC Raider 4G. The handset sports an enormous 4.5-inch display, a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, 16GB storage and the latest version of Google's Android OS. It's worth noting that HTC will have to modify the radio components of this handset to make it Telstra ready, so any of these other details could change, as well.
