HP's TouchSmart 610 and 9300 recline
The updates to Hewlett-Packard's line on all-in-one desktop PCs features a 23-inch display with multitouch tech and the ability to recline at a 60 degree angle for easier input.
Hewlett-Packard has unveiled updates to its all-in-one desktop PCs for consumers and businesses.
Dubbed the HP TouchSmart 610 Consumer PC and the HP TouchSmart 9300 Elite Business PC, the computers feature a 23-inch 1080p HD display and multitouch technology. However, touching or tapping a screen that's upright can be awkward. So, the screen features a recline that can dip to a 60-degree angle.
The upcoming PCs are the latest entrants into HP's touch-screen computer lines. The company already sells a 600 series and 310 series for consumers and a 9100 series for business customers. HP also sells the TouchSmart tm2 touch-enabled notebooks.
HP's new PCs come with a Blu-ray drive and Webcam, as well as an SD slot. The 610, which will ship with AMD or Intel processors, features Hulu, Netflix, Rhapsody, and Twitter among the apps optimized to work with the computer's touch display. It also offers the company's Beats Audio technology designed for better audio quality. Gamers can choose a model that comes with Ubisoft's strategy game, R.U.S.E.
On the enterprise side, the TouchSmart 9300 Elite comes with Windows 7 and up to 16GB of RAM. Customers can also choose to add a 160GB solid-state drive. The company told CNET in a statement that the business-focused PC will feature Intel's Sandy Bridge processors.
To take advantage of the 9300 Elite's touch screen, HP has partnered with several third-party vendors to offer touch-based programs. HP said that its touch-screen computer is designed with the "hospitality, retail, and health care" industries in mind.
HP is launching the TouchSmart 610 Consumer PC in the U.S. on Wednesday. Prices will start at $899.99. The company's TouchSmart 9300 Elite Business PC will launch in May for an undisclosed price.
