Posthumous publishing continues.

An unfinished novel by science fiction master Robert A. Heinlein has been completed by author Spider Robinson and will soon be released. "Variable Star" is available for preorder on Amazon for $16.47.

For those who simply can't wait for the hard copy, check out these excerpts from the first two chapters. According to the Heinlein site, two chapters will be released each week until Sept. 19--the book's official release date.

Heinlein, who died in 1988 at the age of 86, originally planned the story of two star-crossed lovers in 1955, but put the project aside to work on other things, according to his site. Spider Robinson, himself an award-winning science fiction writer, was asked by Heinlein's estate to finish what Heinlein had started.

Robinson released a letter and an afterword on Heinlein's site explaining his experience in completing the project. Heinlein's original manuscript consisted of a detailed outline and notes.
