FWB Hard Disk ToolKit 3.0.2 has been released. It "addresses a number of problems, adds features, and has many additional devices supported. Please refer to the Read Me file in the Updater for specifics." The PE version is also up to 3.0.2.

QuickHelp glitch R.E. Kramer writes that the updater did not successfully complete in his case. He found that the problem was that the Installer tried to install QuickHelp 4.5.8, when he had a newer version there. Placing an older version of QuickHelp (such as the one that shipped with HDT 3.0) resolves the problem.

So how did Mr. Kramer get a newer version of QuickHelp associated with HDT anyway? He had replaced it himself. He explains: "With the proliferation of QuickHelp in so many programs, I have at least 9 that contain it, I have used an alias to replace them. The only program that refuses to use the alias is Apples own AppleWorks/ClarisWorks. To update the QuickHelp in these, one must replace the old file (located in the Claris Folder in the System Folder) with a new version and remove the trademark symbol."

Update Amir Caspi adds: "While Palm Desktop itself has no problem opening the resident QuickHelp app (located on a different partition, in my case), the HotSync Manager barfs. It requires that QuickHelp be located in the Extensions folder, for some reason. And placing an alias there doesn't' work - it requires the actual application to be there."

FOND error MacFixit Editor Shawn Platkus notes: "I just tried to apply the recently released HDTú 3.0/3.0.1-->3.0.2 Updater and I got an error when it was updating the Hard Disk Toolkit application. The error said 'An error kept the update from succeeding. A resource has been modified (FOND 25).'" Arfst Brar got the same error. He writes: "I reinstalled the 3.0 from the CD again, opened all the files in Resourcerer and removed the FOND 25 resources.. Then I gave the updater an other chance. It worked."
