Hamilton Beach SaladXpress makes a quick and easy salad
The Hamilton Beach 70950 SaladXpress Food Processor makes it easy to add a variety of different cuts to a vegetable salad. Four different "cutting cones" get the job done.
It's hard to find fault with salad. You put a bunch of stuff of your own choosing into a bowl and mix it up. It may be difficult to find issue with that, but then there are the details to consider; little things that matter like how the veggies are cut. Pieces of one ingredient that are too big may drown out the others before a drop of dressing drizzles into the bowl.
However one decides to design one's salad, first there must be prep work. With multiple "cutting cones" capable of producing multiple cuts, the Hamilton Beach 70950 SaladXpress Food Processor ($59.99; available in September) seeks to provide easy options. Choose a cutting cone to slice, shred, grate, or crinkle-cut, and let the gadget do the hard part.
Just like a traditional food processor, ingredients are fed into the machine through a food chute. Except unlike a regular food processor, finished ingredients go directly into a waiting salad bowl -- then just add dressing. When all the slicing, shredding, grating and crinkle-cutting are complete, the four cutting cones nest inside the unit for easy storage. Now all they have to do is invent a machine that can figure out the perfect ratio of lettuce to tomato.
