Halo: Spartan Assault lands on Windows 8 and WP8 in July
The Halo franchise is getting its own touchscreen-based game, due out next month.
The Halo franchise is finally getting a game built specifically for Microsoft's touchscreen gadgets, due out in mere weeks.
The game will come out in July, costing $7. That equates to about £4.60, though I'm yet to hear about UK-specific price details. It'll work on Windows Phone 8, as well as tablets and laptops running Windows 8.
Spartan Assault is set between the events of Halo 3 and Halo 4, and should shine more light on the bitter war between humanity, and its growly-voiced Covenant foes. For your money you'll get 25 missions, plus weekly challenges and a slew of achievements, while based on the trailer above, gamers should be in for some frenetic shooting action and plenty of colourful, exploding laser bolts.
With Microsoft building both operating systems and games consoles, these are exactly the kind of tie-ins and exciting offerings the company should have been offering Windows customers for ages. Ah well, better late than never, eh?
Are you keen on playing this top-down blaster, or would you rather play a full Halo game with a more sophisticated controller? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.
