Griffin's iPort and using infrared in Mac OS 8.6: a work-around

CNET staff
We previously reported that Griffin's iPort "renders the infrared unusable" on Macs running Mac OS 8.6. Randy Debler recently received a potential work-around from Griffin's tech support: Open the iPort control panel and select the Infrared port. Then launch the Mac OS 8.6 Installer and do a custom install to install or re-install the Infrared and Mobility related software (it may help to delete older versions of this software from your drive before doing this). Randy reports success with this tip.
