Like its predecessor — the symbol-deprived Hero 3 — the new camera comes in several different editions.

The Hero3+ Black Edition comes with a redesigned lens, longer battery life and a smaller body than the earlier Hero 3. It also boasts faster Wi-Fi transfer and an automatic low-light mode to adjust the frame rate as necessary.

Meanwhile, the Silver Edition is 15 per cent smaller and lighter than the older equivalent Hero3 model. It also offers 1080/60p and 720/120p video and a 30 per cent improvement in battery life, like the Black Edition.

The GoPro mount ecosystem has always been well developed, with three new additions boosting the range. The new inclusions are:

  • Jaws — a flexible clamp that's backwards compatible with older GoPro cameras and can be attached to a number of different surfaces and objects, like trees

  • Junior Chesty — a smaller version of the chest harness, specifically designed for children

  • Head strap and quick clip — used to mount the GoPro to baseball hats, belts or straight on the head.

The new Hero3+ model and accessories are available through the GoPro website. In Australia, the Black Edition will retail for AU$529, while the Silver Edition will be AU$429.
