The new additions include the ability to easily share to existing social networks like Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. As well as sharing, your smartphone or tablet can act as a remote viewfinder to see what the camera is recording. Audio streaming is also supported when using the remote viewfinder mode.

Photos and videos from the GoPro can be saved to a smartphone with options for high- or low-resolution transfer. Playback for time-lapse images is also supported. The app is compatible with all of the GoPro Hero 3 cameras and the HD Hero 2 with the Wi-Fi BacPac add-on. Users will need to update the firmware on their GoPro before being able to access the new features, available from gopro.com/update.

Currently, the update is available for iOS and Android. While there is an existing app for Windows Phone users, it has not yet been updated with the same social sharing features found on the other two platforms, though GoPro has said that it will be available in the near future.
