Making use of information from Google's Knowledge Graph, the search giant revealed in a blog post that it will start giving you extra information on sites that pop up in results.

Next to search results, a grey arrow with the name of the organisation that runs the website will appear. A drop-down menu will then give you relevant background information on the site you intend to visit.

Not all sites will have sufficient information to display; instead, Google says that this option will be available when "a site is widely recognised as notable online" or there is enough information about a site to display.

Google's Knowledge Graph is an interconnected web of data that is used to power a range of tools such as Google Now and the auto-complete options that appear as you type into the engine's search bar.
