Now that a select few individuals had the chance to gaze through Google Glass and see what the world looks like overlaid with a computer, Google is letting anyone give the wearable tech a whirl.

The Web giant announced Thursday that it's going on tour across the US to let people try on the glasses and chat with the Glass team. The tour kicks off in Durham, N.C., on October 5. All interested people must RSVP for the event.

"We've heard lots of people are interested in experiencing Glass first hand, so we're taking Glass to cities across the US to give you a chance to do just that," reads the RSVP invite for the Durham tour stop. "We're excited to announce that we'll be kicking off in the Tar Heel State. Come try Glass, chat with the team, and enjoy local snacks and beverages."

Google Glass is the company's foray into a wearable computer or smartphone. The device comes in the form of eyeglasses that can record videos, take photos, chat, get directions, look up facts on the Web, and more. Google started shipping the $1,500 Explorer Edition prototypes in April, and the device is expected to arrive on the market for the general public later this year.

Google hasn't announced what other cities will get a tour stop, but did say to stay tuned to Glass' Google+ page.
