It's video gaming gold -- Harrods is flogging a gold-plated Xbox One console for the staggeringly low cost of £6,000 this Christmas.

You'd better hurry though if you want to get it before some oil sheikh or Russian oligarch snaps it up, because there's only one.

The couldn't-be-more-limited-edition console was spotted at the Knightsbridge department store yesterday by Reddit user SirSyhn.

Harrods confirmed it was a real product, and that there was only one, but has yet to furnish me with more information.

A common or garden Xbox One will run you about £550 from an online reseller at the moment, as they've all sold out at the official RRP of £429. Not only is that less than a tenth of the price, but its matte and gloss black case won't require polishing.

Gold-plated gadgets are de rigeur this year, with two of the best phones of 2013 -- the Galaxy S4 and HTC One -- getting the sticky-carat treatment. A 24ct One will set you back £2,000 -- just four times the normal price -- while Samsung's flagship blower is blinged up for a bargain-basement £1,700.

Are you rich enough to splash six grand on a games machine? Can you lend me a tenner? Gild the lily down in the comments, or check out the solid gold that is our Facebook page.
