GoAmerica to use VoiceStream's network

Wireless Internet service provider GoAmerica Communications will use VoiceStream Wireless' high-speed network to serve its business customers, the companies announced Tuesday. Wireless carrier VoiceStream operates a network on the GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) standard, and GoAmerica plans to weave its Go.Web wireless software and Mobile Office product line into VoiceStream's network in the second half of this year. GoAmerica offers its wireless services to business customers and said in a release that VoiceStream's advanced network will help it provide the speed, coverage and services that corporate clients demand. The deal will also allow GoAmerica's customers to use "hybrid" voice and data devices. But obstacles to a wireless world still remain. The industry has taken significant steps toward offering wireless connectivity, but still scrambles to provide wireless services that come close to services people receive on desktop PCs.
