Glu Mobile had several announcements at this year's E3, and most of them dealt with the world of sports. First, it announced that it would develop the mobile version of Sony's ATV Offroad Fury, an off-road racing title popular on the PlayStation 2. The mobile game is designed to deliver the same stunts and quad racing available on the original, only with a much simpler interface for on-the-go gamers. It will launch at the same time as the console game, ATV Offroad Fury 4, for the PlayStation 2 this September.

Funnily enough, this follows Glu's announcement last week that it will develop the mobile version of Microsoft's Project Gotham Racing, one of the most successful racing games for the Xbox 360. Not only is the game in development for regular cell phones, but Glu Mobile mentioned that it would bring the game to Microsoft smart phones as well. The mobile version of PGR is slated to be released early 2007.

Finally, in the tradition of Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Glu Mobile also developed a mobile game called Super KO Boxing. It looks a lot like Punch Out, with similar cartoony characters, jabs, punches, and evasion techniques. I played with it for a bit, and it definitely took me back to the NES original. This is slated to launch around July of this year.
