This Windows utility normally sells for $29.95. It works with all mail systems and supports an unlimited number of accounts.

Sick of spam? For many users it's the bane of the e-mail experience, a time-sucking hassle that's also a major security risk: spam leaves the door wide open for viruses, phishing, and other threats.

My preferred solution is to route my domain's mail through Gmail, which offers excellent spam filtering. But that won't work for everyone. If you feel like you're losing the war on spam, consider another solution.

Today only, BitsDuJour is offering Firetrust MailWasher Pro 2012 (Windows) anti-spam software for free. That's for a three-PC license, which regularly costs $29.95.

When you click the big, green Get It For Free button, you'll be directed to a short Firetrust form. After supplying your name and e-mail address, you'll be able to download the software. This is the trial version. You'll need to register it (unlock the full version) using the code you receive separately via e-mail.

Unlike some spam fighters, which filter out the junk after it's been downloaded to your PC (and potentially wreaked some havoc), MailWasher Pro intercepts mail from the server and gives you the chance to preview and "wash" it before it gets downloaded.

The software relies not only on its own anti-spam database and algorithms, but also a crowd-sourced system of flagged messages. You can set up blacklists and whitelists, create custom filters, and so on.

CNET hasn't reviewed MailWasher Pro 2012, but nearly 200 users rated it four stars out of five on average. If you're sick of spam, this is definitely worth a look.

One final note: This license is good for a year of updates, support, real-time spam blocking, etc. After it expires, it'll cost $19.95 per year to renew.

Bonus deal: While supplies last, Fry's has the refurbished Lenovo IdeaPad K1 32GB 10-inch tablet for $249.99, plus $8.99 for shipping. The K1 runs Android Honeycomb 3.2 and comes with a 90-day warranty. That's the lowest price I've seen on 10-inch tablet with 32GB of storage.
