Get free next-day shipping from the Apple store

It's not too late to put an iPad, Apple TV, or the like under the tree. You've got until December 21 to get your order by December 24.

Procrastinators of the world, rejoice! If you want to give someone the very best gift of all--an Apple product--it's not too late. Apple is offering free next-day shipping on select items.

Don't worry--"select" doesn't mean only lame stuff like cases and cables. You can nab free expedited shipping on iPhones, Apple TVs, non-engraved iPods and iPads, and non-customized Macs. Normally this runs at least $16--and sometimes a lot more. (Depends on the product, natch.)

To get the deal, make sure to choose "free Express Shipping" at checkout.

Lots of other stores offer free shipping as well, but few are footing the bill for overnight delivery. For example, you may have already missed the cutoff at Amazon, which routinely offers free Super Saver shipping on orders above $25. Now you'll have to pony up for two-day shipping (unless you're an Amazon Prime member, in which case it's free).

If you are indeed stuck in this procrastinator's purgatory, be sure to check out CNET's Christmas 2011 online shopping deadlines. It may help.

And if you've found other stores that have stepped up with free one- or two-day shipping to help make the holidays merrier (or at least giftier), share the deets in the comments!
