The default Android browser may not offer the amount of features or shortcuts you'd expect on a mobile device. As Jason Cipriani pointed out in Twelve ways to customize your Android, you have the freedom to use another Web browser offered through the Google Play store. So which one should you pick?

Within the Android community, there are users who swear by one Web browser over another -- ChromeDolphin Browser, and Firefox being three of the most often mentioned. The current version of these Web browsers will likely suit your needs, but if you're curious about the direction the app is taking, it's time to try out some betas.

Chrome and Firefox have the beta versions of their apps on the Google Play store for anyone to try out. However, with Dolphin Browser, you'll need to sign up for its Play store beta program first. Here's how:

Step 1: Start by joining the Dolphin Browser Beta Testers Google+ Community. Yeah, that's a mouthful.  You can check out this post to see the specific benefits of joining their community. Most notably: providing feedback/complaints and feature requests directly to the Dolphin Browser Product Team. That's much better than leaving a comment on a blog post and hoping the right person notices it.

Note: If you are not a current Google+ user, you will need to become one to join its community for beta testing.

Step 2: Head to the Become a Tester page for Dolphin Browser and click Become a Tester. This link is not going to work if you have not joined the community on Google+.

Step 3: Click the link to download Dolphin Browser from the Google Play store and start testing.
