As someone who's in the midst of migrating from iPhone to Android (namely, the Republic Wireless Moto X), I'm looking for ways to ease the transition. Among them: finding a place to dock/charge my phone at night. My current alarm-clock dock has an old-fangled Apple 30-pin connector.

Born on Kickstarter, the Hale Dreamer incorporates a small but substantial speaker so you can wake up to the tunes of your choice (and play your favorite bedtime playlists). Its barrel-shaped design is topped by a shelf of sorts that holds your phone and supplies various buttons -- including the all-important Snooze, a feature you don't see on many smartphone-oriented alarm clocks.
Other very welcome additions: large volume- and brightness-control knobs on either side, meaning you don't have to fiddle with your phone to adjust these settings.
The dock connects to your phone via two cords, one each for its Micro-USB port and headphone jack. Granted, it's a bit of a hassle to have to plug them in every night, but you're probably used to plugging in your charge cable anyway, so this is just one easy extra.
Hale's free companion app, Dreamer Alarm Clock, lets you choose from a variety of very slick clock faces, including the particularly awesome nixie tubes. It also enables the clock's marquee feature: SmartSilence, which blocks calls and text messages during designated hours -- unless they're from specific contacts (such as family members). You can even set it to autorespond (via text) to callers asking if there's an emergency, in which case you'll receive an audible notification and pop-up message.
CNET hasn't reviewed the Dreamer, but around 25 Amazon customers rated it 4.4 stars out of 5. And there's a very positive in-depth review over at AndroidCentral that's worth checking out if you want to know more about the product.
Ultimately, if you've been looking for an Android-friendly bedside companion, this one looks like a winner -- and if you act fast you can save 25 percent.
