Speaker dock. Bluetooth speaker. FM radio. Mobile charger. The Sound Step Recharge does it all.

Most speaker docks are exactly that: a speaker designed to accommodate your smartphone (and occasionally your tablet) for both charging and music listening.

If you want to keep your device close at hand, however, you need a Bluetooth speaker -- but then you lose out on a place to recharge.

So why can't a speaker offer both capabilities? Surprisingly few do, but today's deal does: For a limited time, and while supplies last, StackSocial has the Soundfreaq Sound Step Recharge wireless speaker dock for $99.74 shipped. That's after applying coupon code CSKATE-5 at checkout. That's right: It's another Cheapskate exclusive! (And, sorry to say, it's for continental-U.S. customers only. Don't blame the messenger.)

This is not your typical wimpy Bluetooth speaker, even though it does incorporate Bluetooth for wireless pairing with your smartphone or tablet. Rather, the Sound Step Recharge incorporates two speakers and a dedicated subwoofer for powerful 2.1-channel audio. A lot of Bluetooth speakers aren't even stereo, and very few include a 'woofer.

For owners of older Apple gear, the SSR's 30-pin dock can recharge batteries and, of course, play audio. (It's among the rare docks with room for an iPad, too.) For owners of other gear, a line-in jack allows for almost universal compatibility. And there's a remote so you can control volume, track selection, and the like from across the room.

The speaker also has an FM tuner, though you'll need to use Soundfreaq's app (available for Android and iOS) to operate it. Its rechargeable battery lets you listen for up to six hours on the go, according to Soundfreaq, and its USB port allows for mobile charging of non-Apple devices.

In short, this is one of the most versatile speaker docks I've seen. Okay, but how does it sound? Just so-so, according to CNET, but for comparison's sake, iLounge rated it an A-, and 55 Amazon customers awarded it 4.3 stars out of 5 on average.

The Sound Step Recharge sells for $149 pretty much everywhere else. Here's your chance to save a whopping 33 percent on one seriously well-equipped speaker. Think you'll grab one?

Bonus deal: Calling all laptop shoppers! Dell just cut $250 off the price of the Inspiron 14z, which is now $499.99 shipped when you apply coupon code Q$0CVM7W06H44V at checkout. Specs include a third-gen Intel Core i5 processor, 6GB of RAM, a hybrid hard drive (32GB SSD + 500GB HDD), and a 14-inch display. It also has a DVD burner, despite measuring just 0.8 inch thick. Pretty solid deal on a system CNET rated four stars and described as "an affordable mainstream notebook that's an excellent late consideration for back-to-school shopping."
