Get a pre-owned Nintendo DSi for $49.99

That's an unusually good deal, meaning supplies probably won't last long. The only question mark is the warranty: there doesn't seem to be one. (Just a 30-day return.)

Today only, score a very rare deal on the Nintendo DSi.
Today only, score a very rare deal on the Nintendo DSi. Nintendo

Whoa! Check out these fancy new digs! Don't know about you, but I'm seriously liking the CNET makeover. Hubba-hubba!

When it comes to mobile gaming, I don't know how much longer dedicated devices like the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP can survive. The average iPod Touch or smartphone can play a zillion more games, most of them priced from free to $3, with no cartridges to schlep around.

That said, the kids sure do love the DS--and I'll admit it's a pretty sweet gaming gizmo. Hence today's deal: today only, and while supplies last, CowBoom has the pre-owned Nintendo DSi handheld game console for $49.99, plus $5 for shipping. That is far and away the best price I've ever seen. In fact, the DSi still sells new for $150.

Update: Rats! It's already sold out. I must remember to stop posting CowBoom deals, because they rarely last. That said, keep checking the site to see if they free up any more stock.

The DSi features two screens, two built-in cameras, an SD card slot, a microphone, and 802.11g Wi-Fi. It's thinner than the DS Lite, and it allows you to download games directly.

That's about the extent of my knowledge of the device. If you want to learn more about the Nintendo DSi, check CNET's detailed review.

The one thing I do know is that there's no warranty information provided here, meaning there may not be a warranty to speak of. CowBoom does offer a 30-day return policy, which is usually enough time to determine if there are any major issues. Not having owned a DSi, I'm not sure what kinds of issues there could be, short of a bum screen.

Anyway, CowBoom offers do tend to sell out quickly, and given the unusually low price on this, supplies may not last the morning. Good luck!

Bonus deal: Also today only, and also while supplies last, 1 Sale A Day has the Monster PowerNet 100 Ethernet Network Starter Park for $49.99, plus $4.99 for shipping. This kit is new, not refurbished, and it comes with a pair of powerline networking modules--ultra-convenient for running Ethernet through your home without running wires. This kit lists for $199.99 and sells elsewhere for around $129.99, so this is a steal indeed!
