Get a new Sylvania Blu-ray player for $59.99

Amazon is offering an entry-level model that's also the lowest-priced nonrefurbished Blu-ray player we've seen. And it comes with one frill: an SD card reader.

This mostly no-frills Blu-ray player sells for $60 shipped. And it's not a refurb! Amazon

If you missed last week's $50 Magnavox Blu-ray player from Kmart or you simply weren't wild about buying a refurbished player, here's good news: Amazon has a new Sylvania NB530SLX Blu-ray player for $59.99 shipped.

That is, I believe, the lowest price I've ever seen on a new Blu-ray player.

Of course, you shouldn't expect Profile 2.0, Netflix streaming, or any other advanced features at this price. The NB530SLX supports Blu-ray Profile 1.1, HDMI 1.3a support, and has a remote control.

Actually, it does have one frill: an SD card reader. With the reader, you can pop in a memory card and watch a slideshow of your photos on your TV.

CNET hasn't reviewed this model, but the roughly 60 user reviews on Amazon are overwhelmingly positive (4.5 stars on average). However, I recommend perusing some of the comments, just so you don't face any surprises. (For example, firmware updates are apparently a sizable hassle.)

I'm not certain if this is one of Amazon's one-day-only deals, but am I sure the sellout risk is huge. If you're still shopping for a "starter" Blu-ray player or need a second one, this is a pretty stellar buy.
