The Dell C1660w offers wireless color printing for under $100. Staples

Quick question: I thought yesterday's $34.99 Fitbit Zip deal would be hugely popular, but it didn't seem to generate much excitement. For future reference, were you not all that interested in the product? Did the cashback "hoop" seem too large to jump through? If you're so inclined, leave a comment explaining why that deal didn't rock your world.

On to business. I've always preferred laser printers to inkjets, mostly because the latter gulp super-pricey ink cartridges that don't seem to last very long. Plus, for plain-paper document printing, laser quality (almost) always beats ink.

Of course, while monochrome lasers can be had for cheap, color-capable models tend to cost quite a bit more. But not today: For a limited time, and while supplies last, Staples has the Dell C1660w color laser printer for $99.99 shipped (plus tax). That's a full $100 off the regular price.

Unlike a lot of home-office-minded color lasers, this one offers Wi-Fi connectivity (USB, too, though not Ethernet) and easy printing from your smartphone or tablet courtesy of Dell's Mobile Print app. In other words, you can place it anywhere that's convenient; it doesn't have to stay tethered to a PC.

Technically, this is an LED printer, but its output rivals that of a laser. The C1660w produces 600x600-dpi pages at rated speeds of 12 and 10 pages per minute for monochrome and color, respectively. It has a 150-sheet input tray and 100-sheet output tray.

Dell estimates a cost of four cents per monochrome page and 21 cents per color page. That's based on the list prices for the four toner cartridges, which sell at Staples for around $58 each (gulp). However, at least one outfit sells a complete set of C1660w-compatible cartridges for $60. That's little more than you'd pay to stock an inkjet.

CNET hasn't reviewed the C1660w, but eight Staples customers collectively gave it 4.5 stars out of 5. If you're looking for a cheap, wireless color laser for the home, office, or home office, this is a hard deal to beat.

Bonus deal: Free stuff! Best Buy Mobile is offering a free 60-day Spotify Premium subscription, though as with most such trial offers, it requires a credit card, and it's limited to newcomers. Same goes for another Best Buy Mobile deal: a free two-month Hulu Plus subscription. If you decide to sign up for either one, remember to add a cancellation reminder to your calendar, otherwise you'll start getting billed at the regular rates.

Update: Looks like the Hulu offer has expired.
