It was barely a week ago that D-Link dropped the price of the Boxee Box to $180 , down from $200, but that's still too rich for my blood.

Today only, and while supplies last, Sellout.woot has the refurbished D-Link Boxee Box for $119.99, plus $5 for shipping. My question for you: even at that price, is the Box worth buying? (If it sells out, I guess we'll know.)

For those unfamiliar with it, Boxee is a media-streaming set-top gizmo that competes with the likes of Apple TV, Google TV, and Roku. However, even at $120, it's priced higher than all of them (though Logitech's Google TV product, the Revue, only recently dropped to $99).

So, what does the cube-shaped Boxee do that the others don't? Well, it definitely looks cooler, with its chopped-off side that makes it look like it's melting into your TV stand.

It also comes with a unique double-sided remote (QWERTY keyboard on one side, D-Pad on the other) and can stream just about any local content imaginable (thanks to extensive codec support).

As for services, it supports heavyweights like Netflix, Pandora, Vudu, and YouTube, but not Amazon Instant Video or Hulu Plus. (Apple TV doesn't handle those guys either, for what it's worth.)

I haven't used a Boxee Box myself, though I did try the free Boxee software (which effectively turns any PC into a Boxee Box). It's nice, but I found navigation a bit cumbersome--especially compared with the super-simple Apple TV and Roku.

Thus, I'm honestly not sure if this is a great deal or not. It's a big savings, that much I know, but for everyday Internet streaming, I would probably steer most folks to the $79.99 Roku 2 XD. If I'm wrong, tell me why!

Bonus deal: It's crazy how cheap 2TB hard drives have become. This isn't the single best deal ever, but it's a great one nonetheless: TigerDirect has the Fantom GD2000EU GreenDrive 2TB external hard drive for $79.99, plus $4.89 for shipping. And check out the user ratings: 4.6 stars on average from nearly 400 buyers!
