If you have room inside your PC, the InfiniTV 4 will turn it into a killer four-tuner DVR.
If you have room inside your PC, the InfiniTV 4 will turn it into a killer four-tuner DVR. Ceton

Yesterday I posted this item as a bonus deal, and it sold it out very quickly--at least on Amazon's site. However, you can still get the Ceton InfiniTV 4 card for $265.16, plus $8 for shipping, and allow me to explain why it's worth having.

If you have a spare Windows 7 desktop PC you can devote to media center duty, the InfiniTV 4 will turn it into one of the best DVRs on the planet.

It's a PCI card that accommodates a CableCARD tuner from your cable company. Once installed, it bestows four digital tuners. (Even a TiVo provides only two.)

Those tuners can receive all your HD and premium channels--pretty much everything the cable company offers except for on-demand and pay-per-view programming.

Plus, there's no monthly fee on top of what you're already paying for cable. Windows Media Center is free, and baked right into all versions of Windows 7 except Basic. With TiVo, well, the monthly fees are just plain painful. In fact, when I ditched my Comcast DVR for a CableCARD, it actually lowered my Comcast bill a few bucks.

I've been using my InfiniTV 4 for just over a year, and right up until my media center died a few weeks ago (moment of silence, please), it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. (Here's my full review in case you missed it yesterday.)

I'm not directly familiar with ANTOnline, the vendor offering the InfiniTV 4 for this comparatively awesome price. ($265 is still pretty steep, but it's certainly better than $399.) If it happens to sell out, you can still get the InfiniTV 4 for $299 straight from Amazon, thanks to a new promotion Ceton just kicked off. (Several other vendors also have it for $299, including Newegg.)

By the way, the Xbox 360 makes an awesome Media Center Extender, so if you don't want a PC hooked to your TV but do own the game console, you're all set.

Bonus deal: If you don't yet own Windows 7 and can't score a student license (still the best deal at $29.99), Newegg has Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit for $84.99 shipped. That's after applying coupon code EMCYTZT521 at checkout. (As with most Newegg coupon deals, you must be a newsletter subscriber.)
