Get a 5-inch GPS with lifetime traffic for $99.99
TomTom's XXL 550T is not only a new model, it's also new, not refurbished. Free lifetime traffic updates are icing on this big-screen navigation cake.
I've seen some smokin' GPS deals before, but this one just about beats them all.
For what promises to be a very limited time, Amazon has the TomTom XXL 550T 5-inch GPS for $99.99 shipped. It's notable not just for its roomy 5-inch screen, but also for its free traffic updates--for life.
See, lots of GPS receivers can fetch real-time traffic data and route you around trouble spots, but most of them require add-on hardware and/or a subscription to the traffic service. The 550T requires neither. TomTom's Lifetime Traffic Updates last "until the product's useful life expires or TomTom no longer receives traffic updates from its suppliers, whichever is shorter."
The 550T also comes with complete maps of North America, seven million points of interest, lane guidance, and a 30-day Latest Map Guarantee (meaning you get to do a one-time download of the most current map data).
I do think a 5-inch GPS might be overkill in a small car with a small windshield, as it might block too much of your view. But if you're driving something roomy, I say have at it.
Before you buy, I highly recommend reading CNET's review of the 550T (which, incidentally, appeared just a few weeks ago--that's how new this model is). It's overwhelmingly positive, which makes me wonder why the GPS received only three stars. From the sound of the review, it's a four-star product at least. (User reviews on Amazon average out to exactly that.)
At $99.99 out the door, the XXL 550T is just plain impossible to beat--especially considering that it's selling for $179.99 most other places. And check this out: if you sign up for a year of AudibleListener Gold (at $14.95 per month, or $179.40 total), you get the GPS for free.
Bonus deal: Looking for a big monitor? Like, a really big monitor? Today only, Woot Sellout has the refurbished Samsung P2770H 27-inch LCD for $239.99 (plus $5 for shipping). It sells new for around $390, and the warranty's a better-than-average 120 days. Killer.
