These days I feel like I can never have too many sync/charge cables. Granted, my situation is a little unusual in that I tend to have lots of different gadgets floating around the house, but it's not uncommon for a person to have a couple different devices with different kinds of ports.
Of course, with multiple ports comes the hassle of multiple cables. That's why I prefer a small one-size-fits-all solution. Like this one: EverBuying.com has a 5-in-1 "noodle style" sync/charge cable for $3.12 shipped. That's about the lowest price I've seen for a cable like this, especially when you factor in shipping.
Before I go any further, let me note that not only haven't I purchased anything from this site before, but also that Web of Trust flags it as "poor" and "unsatisfactory" in terms of trustworthiness and child safety. (I'm not sure how it could possibly be unsafe for children, but whatever.) That said, I see no red flags to speak of -- the company has US offices and a customer-service phone number, plus an extremely high score at ResellerRatings.com. The Web of Trust ratings seem completely at odds with that, so I'm a bit perplexed.
Assuming you're willing to gamble three bucks, the cable sports a standard USB plug for connecting to your laptop, wall charger, or any other USB "outlet," and four other plugs for connecting to just about any mobile device: Apple 30-pin, Apple Lightning, Micro-USB, and Mini-USB.
I should add that the last time I bought a similar cable (a 4-in-1 that lacked the Mini-USB plug -- and cost roughly twice the price), the Lightning connector failed after about a week or two. But that's not going to stop me from grabbing a couple of these and hoping for better luck. At this price, they're too good to pass up.

Bonus deal: Now for a mobile charger to pair with that noodle! Today only, and while supplies last, Daily Steals has a Power Bank 20,000mAh mobile charger for $29 shipped. It features dual USB ports (a 1A and a 2.1A) for charging smartphones and tablets alike, an LED charge indicator, a built-in flashlight, and four tips (Apple 30-pin, microUSB, miniUSB, and Nokia) -- not that you'll need those if you pack one of the aforementioned cables. It even comes in your choice of six colors. Expect a 2-3-week wait for delivery.
