What's a warranty worth to you? And how big a warranty do you need to be comfortable buying a laptop?

While you chew on those questions, check this out: Today only, and while supplies last, Woot Tech has the refurbished HP Pavilion G7-1328DX 17.3-inch laptop for $369.99, plus $5 for shipping.

Because it's a refurb, the Pavilion has a fairly standard 90-day warranty. That's usually enough time to determine if, say, the LCD has a bad pixel or the system has a sudden-reboot problem.

For sake of comparison, Best Buy sells the Pavilion G7-1328DX new for $429.99 shipped (plus sales tax, so around $460 out the door depending on where you live). Is it worth an extra $80-90 to get that full one-year warranty?

(Interestingly, you could add a one-year SquareTrade warranty to the Woot deal for $56.99 and still come out a few bucks ahead.)

Either way, I think there's an awful lot of bang for the buck here. The Pavilion features a 1.5GHZ AMD A6-3420M quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, Bluetooth, and your average SuperMulti DVD drive.

The star of the show is the 17.3-inch LCD, which has a native resolution of 1,600x900 pixels -- a bit shy of 1080p, but certainly better than 1,368x768. Alas, the supporting cast is less glamorous: the HP's Radeon HD 6520G graphics subsystem is decidedly low-end, lacking the muscle for 3D games and serious photo/video work.

Still, not everyone cares about those kinds of things. If you're looking for a desktop replacement that's fairly speedy overall and stocked with a roomy screen, this is definitely worth a look.

Bonus deal: When it comes to making backups, people tend to focus on their data. But what about all your drivers? You should absolutely positively back those up as well. Today only, Giveaway of the Day has GoldSolution Software's Driver Magician 3.68 (Win) for free. It not only updates all your drivers, but also backs them up -- and restores them if necessary.
