What's the catch? You have to download five apps first. Don't worry: they're also free.

Good news, Android fans: You're about to get a boatload of free stuff. (Don't worry, iOS crowd: I've got a freebie for you as well. It's a bonus deal, below.)

Here's the scoop: The Amazon Appstore is home to any number of freebie apps, but for a limited time, five of those apps come with 200 Amazon Coins apiece. That means if you "buy" all five of them, you receive a total of 1,000 Coins. And that translates to $10 in Amazon Appstore credit.

If you're a Kindle Fire user, you're all set to get started. Just download the apps listed below. However, if you have a non-Kindle Android device, you'll need to install the Amazon Appstore app first. (You'll also need to tweak your device's settings to allow for "unknown app sources," as described in the simple instructions when you click through.

So here are the apps you'll need to get to collect your 1,000 coins:

Sort of a theme there, eh?

Just to recap, all five of these apps are free. Each one comes with 200 virtual coins. Once you've collected all 1,000 of them, you'll find yourself with a $10 credit you can blow on Amazon Appstore apps that aren't free. (And, needless to say, you can delete any or all of the five freebie apps you don't want.)

So, what can you snag with your 10 bucks? There's the ever-popular Minecraft Pocket Edition ($6.99), the impossibly handy Swype Keyboard ($3.99), or the meditation-minded Relax Melodies Premium ($2.99), to name just a few. Your thoughts?

Bonus deal: Listen up, Android phone/tablet owners: DailySteals is really desperate to move its inventory of a certain product. First came refurbs, then price cuts, and now this: the PowerA Moga Mobile Gaming System for $10, shipped. It's new, not refurbished, and it's never been cheaper. (List price: $29.99.) The controller provides dual analog sticks, shoulder triggers, and four buttons. Anyone have one of these?

Bonus deal No. 2: Recordium Pro is a top-rated recording app for iOS. It's normally $7.99, but today only, you can snag Recordium Pro for free via the App Store. It's a voice recorder with tons of features, including editing tools, annotation options, and support for most of the major cloud-storage services.
