'Game of Thrones' theme played on wine glasses

The wine glass is mightier than the sword in this musical tribute that uses glasses, a water jug, and pans to play the theme song of the hit HBO show.

Why humiliate someone with a wine glass, when you can use it to play the "Game of Thrones" theme song instead? HBO

The theme song of "Game of Thrones" triggers memories of battles won, souls lost, the madness of the Houses that seek the Iron Throne, and of course, all that wine drinking.

In this unusual video tribute, YouTube user Dan Newbie plays the "Game of Thrones" theme song on wine glasses, pans, and a water jug.

"It took me exactly three weeks from when I decided to give it a shot to when I posted the video to YouTube," Newbie told Crave. "One week to come up with ideas, another one shooting sections and parts, and one more for audio mixing and video editing. It takes me this long to make videos because I have a full-time job and was taking classes this spring. I'm hoping to be able to post videos weekly from now on."

Newbie has also played wine glasses, pots, and pans for tribute cover songs of the Super Mario Bros. theme, "Let It Go" from Disney's "Frozen," and Pharrell Williams' "Happy."

Next up, Newbie has another video game tribute in the works. "I'm working on 'The Legend of Zelda' next," Newbie told Crave. "It's the most requested video so far."

Newbie also takes song requests from fans who would love to see him post more glass-playing tributes to other songs. In fact, the "Game of Thrones" tribute was spawned by requests encouraged in CNET's last article about Newbie and his videos, so be sure to suggest a few more.
