If you're a "Game of Thrones" fan watching the scene in Disney's "Frozen" where Elsa lets loose with her magic and her vocally challenging song "Let It Go," what do you think? Hint: It kind of sounds like "let it go." Same number of syllables. It's the name of a place. C'mon, you know...
"Westeros!" Of course.
OK, that didn't really occur to me during the song, but it seems to have sparked a bit of creativity in the folks over at Loot Crate, a company that delivers "epic geek and gamer gear" to your home for a monthly subscription fee. They've rewritten the Disney ditty and hired some actors to play the khaleesi, Jon Snow, and Joffrey Baratheon in a musical number with surprisingly good production values that has them belting out their intentions to rule, defend the wall, and generally kill everyone (in that order).
This is, of course, not the first "Game of Thrones" mashup (remember Frank Underwood taking over Westeros in "House of Thrones"?). Nor is it the first parody of "Let It Go" (just Google that and you'll see what I mean). But it just might be the first video that combines the two.
The highlight of the short is definitely the opening scene in which one-time Disney Radio actress Katie Wilson does a "scorching" vocal that gives Idina Menzel a run for her money. Wilson has starred in other "Game of Thrones"-related YouTube parodies, including "Beer of Thrones" and recurring episodes of "Game of Fail."
Second to that vocal performance would have to be Joffrey's line, sung by Amy Vorpahl: "Give me their heads, their tongues, their rotting guts spread all around." Not quite Disney material, but kind of fun (in a creepy way) nonetheless.
