G3 Macs, SGRAM, and color depth: a follow-up

CNET staff
Following up on our previous report of flimsy plastic tabs for holding SGRAM on the G3 minitower, James Bogard (who initially reported this problem to MacFixIt), offers this follow-up: Apple on-site warranty repair replaced the logic board in my G3/266 minitower today. The flimsy plastic tabs on the plastic collar that were supposed to hold the SGRAM SO DIMM in place have been replaced by metal tabs that are part of a new combination plastic and metal collar attached to the logic board. This resolved the problem of monitor resolution in millions of colors. The DIMM is now recognized."
