G3 display and resolution issues

G3 Macs and "dim and fuzzy" display image? Raul Regalado writes: "I bought a G3 233 MT in April. Being someone who works with graphics all day long, I immediately noticed that, using the same monitor (an Apple Multiple Scan 20) and the same settings, the G3 had a dimmer and fuzzier picture than my previous computer (a 7600). The dimness looks as if the contrast control had been turned down, and the fuzziness is especially noticeable at higher resolutions. Adding VRAM did not make a difference."
Update: A couple of readers claimed that a recalibration of the monitor (via Monitors & Sound control panel) should fix this problem.

PowerBook G3 series screen resolution Frank Dibble writes: "According to Apple Tech Support, the PowerBook 13.3" and 14.1" screens have a fixed display resolution of 1024 x 768. I'm not talking about video out. I mean the PowerBook's own screen. This means all those 640 x 480 presentations I wanted to show in person with the PowerBook will be about 4" wide."

MacInTouch has recently covered these same issues (a and b).
