Fuzzy Logic rice cookers are a great tool to have in the kitchen. You can use them for rice, of course, but you can do so much more with a little thought and some sharp Google searches. My own rice cooker gets used at least twice a week--it's perfect for busy days when I don't have time to spend on dinner prep.

Logical. Nothing fuzzy about it. Panasonic

Most rice cookers are simple enough for kids to use, too. Have them measure rice and water and even add meat and vegetables for a full meal. With the addition of a steamer basket, you can also cook a side dish separately from the rice.

Panasonic's latest offerings, in 5- and 10-cup sizes, use microcomputer technology to cook delicious rice and fantastic meals in a single appliance.

Choose the size you need--10 cups is ideal for cooking meals for a family, 5 cups will suffice for singles or couples--and then look for the additional features you want. Options include a 12-hour keep warm setting, various menu settings, preset timers, steaming baskets, and autoshutoff.

The various models range from $99 to about $150 and should be in stores this month.
