From fusion power to driver-free cars, which of these predictions from BBC Future is most likely to become reality?
Which prediction will most likely come true?
I have a bone to pick with predictions. I was supposed to have my own personal jetpack by the year 2000. I'm still waiting. That's why I'm just a little skeptical about thisthat looks ahead a century and a half.
As we reported earlier this week, the infographic is packed with predictions ranging from "most likely" to "least likely" from 2013 until 150 years into the future.
For this year, the BBC is giving us pretty good chances that the Great Firewall of China will fall and that doctors will start prescribing medical apps to their patients. That all sounds pretty reasonable. I can see those things happening.
Look around the infographic and you get into some predictions that seem a little more far-fetched. Will artificial intelligence beings be granted corporation status before 2112 rolls around? I suppose it could happen, but I would hope we've all learned something from our unfortunate Hal 9000 experience.
Go ahead and grab your crystal ball. Apply your awesome future-probing nerd powers to this infographic. I've picked out a handful of the geekiest predictions. Which one do you think is mostly likely to come true within the given time frame? Vote in our poll and talk it out in the comments.
