FreePPP expiration date glitch

CNET staff
Just received the following message from Rockstar: "As you may know, the version of FreePPP that is included with GearBox and was distributed at MacWorld Boston, is now complaining that it expired. This is wrong. That version is the full release version. In our rush to have disks ready for MacWorld we didn't 'turn off' the expiration message.
FreePPP 2.6 is still functional. It just displays a message about upgrading that users can ignore. We'll be posting a version of 2.6 that does not contain this annoying message soon."

Update The new version of FreePPP 2.6 is now out!
Rockstar also writes: "The latest GearBox installer detects corrupted Internet Config preferences, due to the OS 8 Internet Setup, and moves them out of the preference folder at install time. This has the effect of fixing problems we were experiencing at times under OS 8. If users experienced GearBox crashes at startup under OS 8, they should download and run the latest installer."
