FreeMarkets inks deal with Taiwan firm

FreeMarkets, a business-to-business marketplace provider, said Monday it signed an agreement with MiTAC International, one of Taiwan's largest manufacturers of computer systems. MiTAC will use FreeMarkets' business-to-business network to build a hosted marketplace for online transactions and locating goods and materials, under the terms of the deal. MiTAC was an early partner of collaborative e-commerce software maker Adexa, which FreeMarkets announced it would acquire in February. MiTAC will now be able to manage its direct materials online and select, identify and collaborate with its trading partners in their own private exchanges, public marketplaces or through FreeMarkets' hosted marketplaces.
